Flower growing through the seasons: one day course

Come and learn from our Head of Growth and her experienced, friendly team of growers how to cultivate cut flowers all year round using organic, regenerative and no-dig methods. Whether you’re dreaming of your first home-grown bouquet, looking to deepen your horticultural skills, or grow on a larger scale for sale, this hands-on course will give you the confidence and know-how to grow your own seasonal flowers. 

We are running three different one day courses- in Spring, Summer and Autumn/Winter. We'll cover the core skills and techniques at each course, reflecting the different flowers and tasks for the different seasons. Discounts are available at checkout if you'd like to join us for more than one session.

Across the seasons, we’ll explore:

• No-dig approaches for creating and maintaining healthy, productive flower beds
• How to care for the soil and build long-term fertility
• Planning your seasonal cutting garden/beds: what to grow, when, and why
• Seed sowing techniques and transplanting 
• Caring for your plants through every stage: staking, feeding, deadheading and pest management
• Harvesting at the perfect moment and conditioning flowers for long vase life
• Crop rotation, composting systems, mulching and green manures
• Tools and materials that make flower growing easier and more efficient
• Extending the season with tunnels, cold frames and protected growing

Each session takes place outside on the farm, where we demonstrate techniques in real time and walk through the seasonal tasks that keep your flowers flourishing all year round. You’ll also have the chance to harvest your own flowers to take home.

We tailor the content of each session to the season and to the interests of the group, so there will be space to dive deeper into the topics you’re most excited to explore.

The course takes place on our beautiful 2 acre farm in the London Borough of Greenwich, surrounded by ancient trees and thriving hedgerows. You'll learn together through the day and share a delicious lunch made using produce from the farm.

Each day includes:

• Practical, hands-on tuition from 10am–3.30pm
• A nourishing farm lunch made with seasonal ingredients
• A bouquet of flowers, harvested by you, to take home
